Overview
MetaTrader 5 (MT5) is MetaQuotes' multi-asset successor to MT4, released in 2010 and offered to traders through brokers. It expands beyond forex and CFDs to support stocks, futures, commodities, and crypto, with more timeframes, more built-in indicators, depth of market, and an economic calendar. It uses the MQL5 language for algorithmic trading and is aimed at traders who want broader market access and more analytical tools than MT4.
